چکیده

hypothyroidism is increased dietary iodine is certainly weakened by the observation that radioresistance was not found in carbimazoleor perchlorate-treated patients. As we stated in the article and as Dr. Wiener has emphasized, the only evidence for iodine as a cause of increased hypothyroidism depends on phar macologie doses. In a manner similar to this last statement, the only obvious difference between our patients and earlier reports is a difference in iodine intake. The third of our patients who were not definitely clinically hypothyroid were not asymptomatic. They had mild-to-moderate symptoms compatible with hypothyroidism, T4 levels of less than 4, and even lower levels of FT4I. They usually also had low T3 levels of RIA and high TSHs. The studies that we used for comparison used criteria of low PBIs plus some symptoms. As such, our criteria for hypothyroidism were as rigid as the studies we used for comparison, if not more so. Spurious lung perfusion ventilation defect on planar ventilation-perfusion scan detected by SPECT imaging

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a preventable cause of morbidity and mortality which needs prompt recognition. Ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) scan is a well-established diagnostic test for evaluation of suspected PE. We report a 32-year-old woman with history of rheumatologic disease and acute dyspnea, who was referred for V/Q scintigraphy. The planar images revealed multiple mismatched defects through...

Diagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography

The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...

Ventilation-perfusion SPECT/CT in Diagnosing Swyer-James (MacLeod) Syndrome

We present the characteristics of a ventilation-perfusion scan correlating to both planar and single photon emission computed tomography and computed tomography (SPECT/CT) images of the lungs in a patient with SwyerJames (MacLeod) syndrome. A Tc-99m MAA lung perfusion scan was recorded with multiple projections and SPECT/CT. In the ventilation scan, initially dynamic acquisition of aerosol Tc-9...

Combined Radionuclide Phlebography and V/Q scan in the assessment of iliac vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism – A case report establishing a cause and effect relationship

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is an important life threatening condition that is difficult to diagnose, particularly in the early stages. Looking for DVT in lower limb can be considered ancillary in suspected cases of pulmonary embolism (PE) indirectly highlighting a cause and effect relationship of a single disease (i.e cause being DVT and effect is the assault on the lung vasculature). Prompt an...

Bronchogenic cyst causing a unilateral ventilation-perfusion defect on lung scan.

A 37-year-old woman had pleuritic chest pain, dyspnea, and normal findings on chest roentgenogram. Lung scan showed markedly diminished perfusion to the right lung with a matched ventilatory defect. Further evaluation revealed a bronchogenic cyst. After resection, the lung scan was normal. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a bronchogenic cyst causing a reversible, unilateral ventila...
